Our Social Prescribing programme aims to improve health and wellbeing through a personalised approach to care using non-medical means – we support people suffering with loneliness and isolation, poor physical and mental health, debt and financial difficulties, benefits and welfare issues, and so much more. Our Health & Wellbeing for Children & Families Service supports children and young people from 8-18 by finding groups and activities that match their interests and also by signposting or referring into other support services to improve their health and wellbeing.
Burnley residents who struggle accessing public transport can access our long-standing Communicars service which uses volunteer drivers and their own vehicles. If you’re looking to volunteer, BPRCVS is the only officially accredited Volunteer Centre in East Lancashire and is the place to go for all things volunteering. Or if you’re looking for work or the skills to get you back into work, we can support you with this too.
BPRCVS also owns Gannow Community Centre where the community cafe. for two days a week, provides the heartiest of a full English breakfast for a suggested donation of only £3! The centre also runs our Food Share programme which provides a bag of good quality food and is open to anyone – there’s no judgement, we don’t ask any awkward questions, and you can drop-in with no appointment necessary. From the community garden providing a peaceful, relaxing space to the wide range of groups who deliver activities for all ages, Gannow Community Centre is a vibrant, fun, and enjoyable place to be!
BPRCVS also supports VCFSE groups and organisations with funding support, governance, policies and procedures, DBS checks, recruiting volunteers, payroll, training, room hire and tenancy, community transport with our minibus, and also through promoting group’s and organisation’s activities, events, fundraisers, projects and services.
